Bill was born May 31, 1927 in Canby, Minnesota to Orrin and Anna (Ranch) Lund. He spent his youth in Canby and on December 7, 1944 he enlisted in the US Navy. He served his country during WWII aboard several different “LST” boats. One of which sank during a typhoon and survivors spent several days lying injured on the beach before help arrived. Bill was honorably discharged from the US Navy on July 18, 1946. He would have dearly loved to remain in the Navy, but his mother desperately needed his help at home. His dad had a major stroke and was hospitalized. Bill worked for the City of Canby Water-Sewer Department until his retirement after more than 20 years. Bill was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Order of the Cootie.
These last few months Bill had been a patient at the nursing home in Canby. He went to meet the Lord early Monday morning March 19, 2012 at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 19 days.
Bill is survived by several cousins; along with two nieces; a nephew; many great nieces and nephews; along with six great-grandnieces and nephews.
He will be missed by all.
