Doug Enquist

Doug Enquist, age 54, of Gary, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 near Gary, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN with Rev. Janet Colby officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, May 23rd at Birk Funeral Home in Canby, MN and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Gary.

Douglas Carl Enquist was born on May 5, 1958 in Grant County to Luverne and Hazel (Tucholke) Enquist. He attended school in Revillo and graduated in 1976. He lived on the family farm near Standburg, SD until he was united in marriage to Christee Simonton on September 25, 1993. He worked for Culligan Soft Water in Watertown, SD for many years. He began work at Saputo Cheese in Big Stone City, SD in the fall of 1988 and worked there until his death.

Doug was a huge Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves fan. He was always seen wearing a sports shirt. He enjoyed being around and helping with all of his wife’s daycare children.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Christee of Gary, SD; mother-in-law, Marie Simonton of Gary, SD; brothers-in-law, Scott (Lisa) Simonton of Milbank, SD, Drew (Sheryl) Simonton of Waubay, SD, Rick (Deanna) Simonton of Watertown, SD, and Dalton (Sarah) Simonton of Shakopee, MN; sister, Collette (Mike) Krakow of LaBolt, SD; brothers, Marlin Enquist of Milbank, SD and Jeff (DeeDee) Enquist of Stockholm, SD; and nieces and nephews, Trista, Traci, Torey, Jaime, Jason, Kaylee, Alex, Bryon, Kimmy, Kris (husband, Andy), Steve, Justin and Emelia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luverne and Hazel Enquist; and father-in-law, Donald Simonton.
