Helen Marian Evans was born October 7, 1918 on a farm west of Canby, Minnesota, the daughter of William & Mary (Uasey) Evans. She attended school until she came down with Yellow Jaundice. She was a very smart student receiving mostly A’s in her classes.
On February 21, 1941, Helen was united in marriage to Ernest Ullmann at the Presbyterian Church in Canby with Rev. Rowland officiating. The couple farmed around Canby until Ernie was hit by a barn door and his health declined, so he had to quit farming. They bought Moritz Store and managed that for 16 years. Ernest passed away on February 1, 1988 at their home in Hendricks. Helen worked at Swifts in Marshall for 8 years, thrift shop, and then as a dietary cook at the Hendricks Hospital.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hendricks. She enjoyed baking, making flatbread, but most of all visiting with people. She loved dancing and so did Ernie. Helen loved her many dogs and cats over the years. She attended a lot of dances at Burr Hall, Canby, Argonne Pavilion and later Bohemian Hall.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her son, Barry (Rose) Ullmann of Jordan, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; three siblings, Earl, Howard and Pearl Bresson.
Blessed be her memory.
