Arvin Alburn Jeppesen

     Arvin Jeppesen, age 84, of Canby, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby.     

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby with Father Steve Verhelst as the Celebrant. Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Tuesday at Birk Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm and a rosary to follow. Visitation will continue from 9-10 am on Wednesday at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.      In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to: St. Peter’s Catholic Church Social Hall Fund, Canby Hospice or donor’s choice.

     Arvin Alburn Jeppesen was born December 16, 1927 in Marble Township, Lincoln County, the son of Henry & Edna (Olsen) Jeppesen. Arvin was baptized, confirmed and received his First Communion at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He completed his first eight years of education at District 74 in Marble Township. He then attended the Canby High School where he graduated in 1947. On July 12, 1950, Arvin married Caryl (Klosterman) at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock, MN. After their marriage, they moved to a farm just west of the Marble Lutheran Church. Arvin retired from farming in 2000.     

When Arvin was a young man, he played baseball with the Hansonville and Canby Baseball teams. He also could be found playing softball, horseshoes, and played pool with a team from Shady Beach. Arvin would also be a clerk for Southwest Auction Company for some 20 years. Arvin lived on his farm in Marble Township from 1950 to 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, but most of all, spending time with his family.  

    He is survived by his wife, Caryl of Canby; children, Mary Jo Knutson (Al Reiners) of Fargo, ND, Connie (Bill) Otto of Canby, Gregg Jeppesen of Hendricks, Bruce (Avis) Jeppesen of Brookings, SD, Lori (Chris) Husby of Canby, Barb Jeppesen of Canby, Karin (Jim) Beer of Hendricks, and Brad Jeppesen of Canby; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; siblings, Orlin (Lillian) Jeppesen of Canby, Darlys (Harvey) Johnson of Twin Cities; Janice (Ron) Emmons of St. Michael, MN.   

  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice Jeppesen.
